About Sam Dworkin

– Professionally:

Sam attended the Pennsylvania State University and received a Bachelors of Art degree in Psychology. He later obtained his Masters degree in Forensic Psychology from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. While at Marymount University, he developed a deeper understanding of psychology and the law, mental illnesses, neuropsychology, and other disciplines. Sam gained his formative investigative and mitigation experience from working at the Northern Virginia Capital Defender Office. He completed an internship with the office before working full time as an Investigator and Mitigation Specialist. While there Sam conducted international mitigation investigation trips, facilitated the office internship program, testified in numerous court proceedings, and aided in the positive resolution of many capital cases. He left in the beginning of 2012 and has owned and operated Dworkin Investigations, LLC since early 2012. Since then he has continued to work on behalf of capital and non-capital clients at the State, Federal, and Military Commissions levels. Sam also has worked as a Mitigation Specialist and Expert in numerous Juvenile Resentencing Hearings, particularly at the DC Superior Court under IRAA/SLA (the Incarceration Reduction Amendment Act / Second Look Act).

Samuel W. Dworkin is originally from Pennsylvania but now works and resides in northern Virginia. He is passionate about capital defense and the work of the capital defense community at large. In his free time, he enjoys music and being a drummer, discovering new eateries in the DC Metro area, being with his wife and daughter, and running mud and obstacle course races (WD Mud) (TM Mud) (Spartan SD )
